Centre Point Redevelopment Plans Approved

Last month, Search Office Space reported that the Iconic skyscraper, , was set to be turned into a mixed-use development centre with multi-million pound residential apartments. Today, Search Office Space can reveal that the redevelopment plans have now been approved and the sixties skyscraper is set to be given a new lease of life.

Centre Point was purchased by property investment company, Almacantar last year for £120m after the building went into administration. Later today, Almacantar will unveil designs for 82 luxury flats set to be housed at the top of the skyscraper, along with a comprehensive redevelopment of the ground floor which intends to create an open air piazza and courtyard to rival nearby .

Almacantar’s Development Director, Kathrin Hersel told press, “Centre Point is a flawed icon, as it has been vacant for many years and even now it is not fully let. We wanted to find a solution that will preserve it for the long term and we saw a large opportunity to create a real gateway entrance to Oxford Street.”

It’s not just Centre Point that looks set for redevelopment in the , as reports suggest that the former Astoria music venue at Number 1 , will undergo a redevelopment scheme by Derwent London.

The Astoria project intends to develop the 275,000sqft space into a mixed-use scheme, built above the Crossrail Station. The design is thought to include two striking buildings which overlook an garden square, thus linking and .
